Accommodation next to Wilrijk, Hoboken and Mortsel

Wilrijk and Hoboken are districts of the city of Antwerp, and Mortsel is a separate town just east of them. If you work or study there, you do not have to sleep there: Hoost sits just north, in Antwerp South and Middelheim Park.

Who needs accommodation near Wilrijk, Hoboken and Mortsel?

Accommodation near Wilrijk, Hoboken and Mortsel is mostly needed by people who come for a site, a campus or a hospital. These are the main ones on the south side of the city:

• Umicore Hoboken. Umicore describes its Hoboken site as a plant that recovers precious and valuable metals from discarded appliances and industrial by-products.
• Agfa-Gevaert in Mortsel. The city of Mortsel notes that the main building of Agfa-Gevaert still stands on the Septestraat, where Lieven Gevaert bought land in 1904.
• Blue Gate Antwerp. Blue Gate Antwerp is a water-bound business park on the former Petroleum Zuid site. It hosts companies in sustainable chemistry, urban logistics and manufacturing.
• The University of Antwerp. Campus Drie Eiken, the life sciences campus, is in Wilrijk. Campus Middelheim and Campus Groenenborger share the building’s 2020 postcode.
• Hospitals. UZA, the university hospital, is in Edegem, and ZAS Augustinus is in Wilrijk. ZAS also runs ZAS Sint-Jozef in Mortsel and ZAS Hoge Beuken in Hoboken.

Visiting researchers, consultants and families of patients often need more than a room for a night or two. A kitchen, a desk and a washing machine make a stay of several weeks easier.

Distances from VIIde-Olympiadelaan 19 to the south side

The University of Antwerp campuses have no measured distance yet. UAntwerp says UZA is near Campus Drie Eiken, so the UZA figure gives a rough idea.

A furnished apartment or a hotel in Wilrijk?

A hotel in Wilrijk or Hoboken suits a short trip where you want breakfast and a reception desk. For a stay of a week or longer, a furnished apartment usually works better. You cook, work and do your laundry like at home.

Which apartment suits your Wilrijk accommodation?

All four apartments are in one building, so a team can stay together. Choose by the size of your group:

• One or two people: the ground-floor apartment with garden has one bedroom, its own entrance and the only air conditioning in the building.
• Two colleagues or a family: the first-floor apartment with terrace has two bedrooms. A cot and high chair are available on request.
• A team: the second-floor apartment and the third-floor apartment each sleep four. Together with the other two, the building takes up to 14 guests.

Trams and roads from the apartments

Trams 2 and 6 stop near the building. De Lijn runs tram 2 from Hoboken to P+R Merksem, via Antwerpen-Centraal. For now it turns at Hoboken Zwaantjes, with a shuttle bus on to Hoboken Lelieplaats. Our guide to the Antwerp tram covers tickets and routes.

By car, the building is on the south side of the ring, next to the Kennedytunnel. That suits Hoboken, Wilrijk, Mortsel and the Left Bank. The building is outside the low-emission zone. There is no parking at the building. P+R Olympiade, about 0.2 km away, has a low daily rate set by the city, and paid parking is nearby. When Hoost is not the right choice

Hoost is a small set of apartments, not a hotel. It may not suit you if:

• you need parking at the building, or space for a van or truck;
• you want daily housekeeping, a reception desk or breakfast;
• you need a meeting room for your team;
• you must register your address, or stay longer than 6 months in one booking;
• you bring a pet.
